A personal agent should give your attention back

The AI Agent That Lets Me Shut the Laptop

My training data lives across Garmin, Strava, and Runna. A scheduled Codex agent keeps the record current, checks on my shoulder, and tells me where I left off without another night spent digging through old notes.

The AI Agent That Lets Me Shut the Laptop

My Codex agent checks Garmin, Strava, and Runna every night, then compares each week with five years of training history. I always know where I left off, which makes it easier to shut the laptop.

01

A BIG keyboard at the beach

I don’t have a proper desk here. Here = an Italian villa by the sea. Yet somehow I managed to haul my 20-plus-kilo Nord Stage 4 down here because I need the music therapy more than I need furniture.

Over the weekend, I went fishing for sea bream in the Gulf of Taranto. The humidity has been insane, and I’m working to get my 5K back under 22 minutes after a disappointing 26:47 finish at Corri Riva 2026.

I’ve spent the last couple of weeks getting into Runna (which I really like, btw). Having the training plan sync with my Garmin watch and Strava account makes everything super easy.

What runs at 10 PM

At 10 every night, my Codex agent checks my FitnessOS project for new activities and logs them into a single source of truth. It reviews my Garmin, Strava, and Runna data.

It asks me how my Hill-Sachs injury is doing and whether I’ve felt any pain or noticed any improvement. Depending on my answers, it reminds me to take it easy or push harder.

On Sunday nights, it compares the current week with my all-time performance going back to May 2021. I can see whether the work is moving me toward sub-22, even when 80–90% humidity makes each run feel awful. The struggle is real.

03

One reliable place to resume

I work with clients, help with our family businesses, and still manage to walk the dogs. My AI/business YouTube rotation includes Matt Wolfe, Nate Herk, Chris Raroque, Matt Pocock, Chase AI, and DesignCourse.

I’m also working through modules from a UC Davis specialization and a Cambridge certificate in The Neuropsychology of Decision Making.

FitnessOS keeps me from digging through old notes just to figure out where I left off. I use the same principle everywhere: maintain one reliable source so I can pick up the next step without mentally rebuilding the entire context.

04

The business version

FitnessOS is personal, but I use the same operating principle at Interzekt. A useful agent should check the systems you already use, preserve the context, and tell you what needs attention.

For a business operator, that might mean testing a live form, checking whether a submission reached Airtable, reviewing a social inbox with no usable API, or keeping a client workflow from disappearing into scattered notes.

Logging is the key to everything. It lets me shut the laptop with a clear head instead of unfinished threads pulling at me. I can be present afterward, whether I’m running, fishing, walking the dogs, or dragging a keyboard to the beach for no good reason other than I felt like it. 🎶

What to keep

  • 01A scheduled agent keeps my training record current without a nightly manual data sweep.
  • 02One reliable record lets me resume without reconstructing the context.
  • 03The same pattern works in business: check the system, log the result, and surface what needs attention.

Frequently asked

01

What does the Codex agent check each night?

It checks FitnessOS for new activities, reviews data from Garmin, Strava, and Runna, asks about my Hill-Sachs injury, and records the update in one source of truth.

02

Why keep a separate FitnessOS source of truth?

Garmin, Strava, and Runna each show a different slice of my training. FitnessOS keeps the history, injury notes, weekly comparisons, and next steps in one place.

03

How does this apply to a business?

The same setup can check live forms, confirm submissions reached the right database, review tools without useful APIs, and keep recurring workflows from disappearing into scattered notes.
